Consolo can edit two basic types of web pages, html-based and xml-based.
Html-based pages is the most common type. They usually have file suffixes such as html, asp, php or the like. These pages can be edited fairly freely with the help of the WYSIWYG editor. Consolo can also generate fully validating xhtml if required.
Xml-based pages are harder controlled and are edited in a form-based environment. Xml is useful for creating different types of registers/databases directly within the Page Structure, e.g. lists over co-workers, news, articles etc. Xml pages are also the format used if the page should be viewed in Flash®.
Templates for both types of pages can be placed in the folder “consolo/templates/”. The templates can be arranged so that the editor will have different templates to choose from depending on where in the Page Structure a new page should be inserted.
